The Neydo Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization which gives 100% of its donations to assist Tibetan people both inside and outside of Tibet. Our name has changed from the Help Tibet Foundation to The Neydo Foundation to emphasize our support of Neydo Kagyu lineage in Tibet. However, all the projects we are sponsoring will remain the same. On the other side of the world lives a nation of people who need our help. Because of their political situation, the independence of the Tibetan people has been taken away from them.
In 1959, the Chinese government forcibly entered Tibet and took over the country. Unarmed and unaccustomed to violence, over a million Tibetan people were killed by torture, starvation and execution and more than 6000 monasteries were desecrated. Other Tibetans fled to countries all over the world, many settling in refugee camps.
The Tibetans still living in Tibet (now part of the People's Republic of China) are becoming outnumbered by the infusion of Chinese being relocated to settle there, particularly in the capital city of Lhasa. The personal and religious freedom of the Tibetan people has been severely curtailed. Tibetan culture, religion and language are slowly dying due to the past 40 years of occupation.
Only recently has the plight of the Tibetans been exposed on such a worldwide scale. This has been accomplished primarily through the efforts of their political and religious leader, H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama, and the recent publicity generated from motion pictures and support groups.
